WAIB Summit 2025
This June, WAIB Summit took place in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and used Thrilld as the official networking app. In this case study, we reviewed how Thrilld was used to enhance attendee networking at the WAIB Summit, along with the unique challenges, solutions, and potential lessons for future networking partnerships.
Background
The WAIB Summit is a yearly meeting where founders, builders, and innovators converge to talk Web3, AI and Bitcoin, summarizing the event name to WAIB. The meeting centers on three major events: WAIB Summit, NFT FEST and Ordinals, creating a perfect avenue for learning, exhibition, interactions and connection.
This year, Monaco once again became the center for tech innovation, gathering over 2,000 attendees, 100 speakers, and 80 partners and sponsors. Moreover, Monaco itself is conveniently cushioned in Europe at the southern end of France, not far from the border of Italy. Attendees could enjoy a magnificent view as the city runs right up to the sea edge, while also connecting, learning, and talking Web3 at the event center.
Aside from being the official networking partner – and taking in some stunning views – Thrilld Labs was allowed to promote and showcase on stage during the pitching Startup VC Session.
Alexandra Overgaag, the Founder and CEO of Thrilld Labs, was present at the WAIB Summit. Representing Thrilld Labs, Alexandra was onsite to ensure a timely and smooth onboarding and navigation of attendees on Thrilld.
The Challenge
A large international audience, with concurrently varied activities to match, the meeting required sufficient preparation and organization. Additionally, incubators, top VC representatives, like Spartan Group, NEAR Foundation, BTCSL, and IBC Group, were invited to attend the pitching session. This meant that the target audience was diverse and reaching across all side events and activities made visibility more challenging. However, for this same reason, there was also space for Thrilld to fill a gap between a disconnected audience, by assisting attendees to identify who else was attending the event, who they had potential shared interests with, and to then easily arrange a meeting through Thrilld’s chatroom feature even before the event started.
Indeed, one of the perceived challenges was centered around the time factor. Usually, getting to know individuals and building relationships may require more time than two days. That’s where Thrilld steps in.
For transparency on our end, we experienced a minor obstacle due to internet connections. The internet flow of Monaco didn't accommodate every person's subscription, preventing on-site navigation of Thrilld. This also made it difficult for some people to utilize Thrilld because they weren't aware of its existence.

The Solution
To manage some of the issues that could potentially arise, timely information and awareness is paramount for attendee onboarding and, foremost, knowing that Thrilld is the official event app at all. One way to do so is to share information regarding Thrilld and encourage attendees, through emails or other communications, to set up their profile in enough time to become familiar with the app.
For example, using the app attendees could find out who is attending the event through the ‘attendees list’ icon. Thus, folks can connect and build relationships already before the event begins. Attendees also may find business partners, investors, and employers for further collaboration even if not directly tied to the event.
The Result
The summit turned out great and productive. Big thanks to the WAIB organizers for their input and hard work; it paid off. Many were already onboarded on Thrilld, which facilitated the success of the occasion, and more people are getting to know the app. The feedback from the judges and audience regarding Thrilld was positive, regardless of the challenges. While we faced a minor obstacle in the internet access of Monaco, there were also folks that weren't aware of Thrilld, preventing their usage of the platform. Regardless of these setbacks, it was a wonderful learning opportunity enabling us to spread the word about Thrilld and Thrilld Labs.
The Future
Thanks to the preparation, communication, and diligence of the WAIB team. We’d love to visit Monaco again soon!
