🟣Nordic Blockchain Conference 2025
This past June 18-19, Scandinavia’s largest blockchain event, the Nordic Blockchain Conference (NBC), took place in Stockholm, Sweden and used Thrilld as the official networking app.
Background
The Nordic Blockchain Conference is organized by the Nordic Blockchain Association (NBA) to bring together blockchain and Web3 professionals across the Nordics and beyond. The NBA’s mission is to further the blockchain ecosystem responsibly and sustainably by advancing supportive legislation, affirming best practices, exploring financing, and addressing legal and regulatory questions.
Indeed, as the NBA puts it, “[...] We aim to advance the development of supportive legislation, infrastructure, and a vibrant ecosystem that empowers and harnesses the full potential of blockchain in the Nordics” and, thus, build “a more transparent, inclusive future where blockchain is a trusted, equitable, and transformative tool that benefits society and the environment.”
The Nordic Blockchain Conference itself is an annual Web3 event, this year held in Stockholm with three thematic focuses: transforming finance, regulation & policy, and AI & decentralized infrastructure.
The Challenge
Over two days, NBC prepared discussions by respected voices within the blockchain industry and welcomed over 1,000 attendees, 125 speakers, and hosted over 10 side events including: OKX Nordic Launch Event, “Solve a DeSci Challenge,” a VIP rooftop networking event, and the Nordic Blockchain Pitch Competition. The conference also showcased the largest NFT Gallery in Scandinavia and took place in a bustling business district aimed at fostering an interactive environment where networking takes precedence.
With a large crowd expected and a packed schedule, it is important that time is used carefully to make the most of two days. In this way, attendees can focus on the connections that matter or the talks or side events that most align with their priorities, though not to belittle the spontaneity of chance encounters :) It’s just that time is limited and it can be costly to travel for events and conferences, so finding the right connections should be approached from a strategic perspective. That’s where Thrilld can help.
To add on to one of our own challenges as far as our event collaborations go: effectively promoting Thrilld as the official networking app timely and repeatedly before the event takes place is absolutely key. For those attending the event, it is most important that they are duly informed that a networking app is available so they can make the most of it. And let’s be honest, not all busy professionals open all emails at all times. In the summer of 2025, the promotion of Thrilld relied for a large part on the event organizers, which presented, at times, some challenges given that the weeks before the event are going to be the busiest for said people.
The Solution
Making sure that people know that the app exists can be solved in various ways, some more technical of nature, others more human and communicative. First of all, as the official networking app of the event, Thrilld also allows attendees to see who else is attending the event and is on Thrilld by viewing a password-protected ‘attendee list’... before the event even starts. Similarly, after the event, they can continue the conversations on Thrilld. Thus, attendees can find the strategic partnerships they are looking for and talk business while keeping to the time frame.
On site, Alexandra Overgaag, the founder and CEO of Thrilld Labs, represented Thrilld Labs and helped with the onboarding process to Thrilld. Furthermore, Thrilld Labs was featured in a panel discussion and pitched at the Nordic Blockchain Pitch Competition, allowing us to further spread the word about the app.
On a final point, Thrilld Labs has also concluded a community networking partnership with the Nordic Blockchain Association, through which community members of NBA are able to easily identify and connect with other members throughout the year, find pertinent information on upcoming events and new initiatives going on in the community all on Thrilld.
The Result
The communication and excellent promotional work from the NBC organizers is something we are particularly grateful for when getting the word out there. The organizers promoted Thrilld in various emails right before the event took place, and we were prominently visible on-site, allowing us to stand at the entrance as well as place flyers..
There were some people still not aware of the app, yet onboarding overall was good, with a large number of people using the app. Moreover, feedback has been good, with several investors onboarded to the app, and a few of them even wanted to speak with us as they “loved” our product.
The Future
Some takeaways we encountered are that there are still some minor technical errors that certain people come across, as well as some explaining and promotional steps that we can take from our side. To elaborate, we had a small handful of people facing minor onboarding bugs, from someone using the wrong email to someone not being able to upload a profile picture, we solved all of the cases that came to our attention thanks to quick intervention from our CTO, Jesse Wachtel, and our support department.
Another thing we realized is that some people don’t realize there are other sections to the app, namely, that there is an events section aside from swiping. Hence, providing the attendee manual at all times is key. Some feedback we received included other UX improvements (like more notifications), as suggested by various attendees from big exchanges, as well as investors. We appreciate all the feedback received and are indeed looking to incorporate some new UX changes in the next update.
These are things that we are aware of and are working to improve, but overall, we are really thrilld with the outcome at the event. NBC had good side events, a multidisciplinary program, and cross-regional attendees. It was a success in terms of onboarding to Thrilld and visibility, as well as meeting some new connections and pitching on stage. And we loved Stockholm… sunny weather and some very lovely people too.
Thrilld Labs is excited to continue empowering blockchain communities worldwide, one connection at a time.
